Although this species is not native to Chile, in recent years, it has become a frequent visitor and has even begun to reproduce in the north of the country. The Monarch is a tireless traveler, embarking on an extraordinary migration across the continent.
Butterflies hold deep meaning in many cultures. In Mexico, for example, Monarchs are believed to be the spirits of departed loved ones returning for Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), as their arrival coincides with this special time of remembrance.
